Seminary Scholarship

CTSN Graduates 2024

LCMS Scholarship

Each year, through the generous support of our partner church, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Concordia Seminary offers tuition scholarships for students who demonstrate financial need and academic achievement. This scholarship is offered thanks to the generosity of our LCMS brothers and sisters in Christ, who desire to enable the training of men for the pastoral ministry in the India Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Rittmann Scholarship Fund India

Concordia Theological Seminary Nagercoil (CTSN), India inaugurated the Rittmann Scholarship Fund in 1970 for needy students of CTSN studying for full time service in the India Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Dr. Clarence Rittmann wished for his Rittmann family to maintain prayer and support for the Gospel ministry in India through their contributions to the capital account of the CTSN Rittmann fund, following his retirement after 42 years of missionary ministry. Between 1970 and 2001, more than 15 students received scholarship assistance through this scholarship. Unfortunately Rittmann scholarship did not operate during the years of 2002 to 2021.

Many thanks to God, in 2021 due to many efforts of Dr. Joseph Rittmann (son of Dr. Clarence Rittmann), and the joint understanding between Rittmann Family, LCMS OIM office and CTSN this scholarship fund is now made operative again for the students. In the past three years another 15 students benefitted from this scholarship.

In 2024, in the 100 th year of CTSN, India, the Rittmann Scheidt Memorial Scholarship Fund, (thanks to members of the Clarence Rittmann and the Emma Scheidt families and other friends of CTSN, India), from the proceedings of its endowment, will transfer annually $2000 to OIM for the CTSN to support Lutheran students who study for pastoral ministry.  The disbursement of the CTSN Rittmann Scholarship Fund in India is entirely according to the CTSN Scholarship Program Committee in India.
